Hello! We are the Turners, just a couple of nature lovers from South Dakota with dreams of making the future brighter for everyone – not just humans, but all of Earth's creatures, and the planet. That is our mission.
Here in 2024, the future isn’t looking so friendly. The effects of human activities on the planet are becoming more apparent. Plastic is littering our oceans and rivers, and the biggest companies on earth are still pumping out tons (380 million according to plasticoceans.org) of single-use plastic every year. Our climate is changing, and the use of fossil fuels is accelerating the warming process (you can choose not to believe the data, but what if you're wrong?)
We must act now to start repairing the damage. It is up to us - all of us - to take the initiative to make changes that will help save the planet, and encourage others to do the same. Now more than ever, we as a society need to come together to fix the messes our species has made.
We started Earth Friendly Future because we want to facilitate some of those changes. In the 1960s, mass-production of plastic (most of which is made from crude oil) revolutionized how everyday products are made and packaged. Plastic has some great applications and is an inevitable part of life on this planet, but some of those plastics are just not necessary.
Here at Earth Friendly Future, we recognize the increasing need for less single-use plastic and more sustainable living practices. That is why we try to source our products from other eco-conscious companies. If you are familiar with shopping online, as most of us are, you know that is not always possible. A lot of the things we buy are made in other countries, so it is difficult to control how things are packaged and shipped. As retailers, we pledge to keep speaking up for the planet. This means maintaining communication with manufacturers so they are reminded of the importance of sustainable practices. We try to use minimal packaging with recycled paper and cardboard, and if plastic seems practical we aim for PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) plastics that are also recyclable. And we are constantly trying to do better.
No, it's not perfect, but we are just getting started! Here on our website, earthfriendlyfuture.com, we offer some basic swaps you can make for things you use every day. We are always trying to find more sustainable options. It is also up to us as consumers to reuse and recycle as much as possible. We welcome customer feedback, as we are always looking for better ways to provide more sustainable options.
Thank you for visiting!
